Rainbow House still Dry but Day Care Centres Closed - 8th November 2011

Many of you have been writing in concerned about the flooding in Thailand which has now hit Bangkok very badly. The good news is that Rainbow House is still dry! That area of Bangkok has escaped the flooding and so although there is mud everywhere and the town is in chaos, they are safe and sound. However, all the day care centres are now closed as transporting the children to Rainbow House from the Government homes is impossible with the current road conditions. The Rainbow House residents are off school at the moment due to flooding. |

All the Community Based Rehabilitation centres are closed as most of them are based in more rural villages which are flooded. The CCD stuff are carrying out home visits and helping out in the community. The picture above shows a CCD team helping out at Patham Thani which has been badly hit by the floods. Please keeping thinking of CCD at this difficult time. |

Thailand has been experiencing severe flooding since August of this year, particularlu in the Northern areas. However, just this week seven districts of Bangkok have been put on flood alert amidst fears that damns and barriers will not |

hold. CCD's Rainbow House, which is located in Nonthaburi province to the North East side of Bangkok. CCD have been preparing with temporary barriers made of sand bags and canvas. |

Meanwhile, CCD have had to temporarily close Community Rehabilitation Project 3 which is based up in Manorom Province 200km north of Rainbow House. Staff from CBR3 project are doing home visits and helping out poor families in the community whose houses are flooded. |

The photo to the left shows the height of the water in Manorom as local residents work together to move sand bags. Flooding is particularly bad for disabled children because wheelchair users are completely house-bound, and disabled children in poor villages will be worst affect |
