New Adventure Playground Finished with Volunteers' Help - July 2010

CCD are pleased that the Adventure Playground refurbishment in Lydia Garden is completed!

The new and improved playground has been treated, repainted, and has new items added to it including the sea-saws and new sand pits.

The beautiful painting was done by the older Rainbow

House residents and kind volunteers who used their free time in the evenings to complete the task.

The colourful playground will be wonderful for the CCD children to have fun and will be a great tool as CCD continue to reach out to families with disabled children in the surrounding Nonthaburi area.

Would you consider sponsoring CCD as they attempt to break the world record for the biggest Thai Dance in the world? Donate now, choosing the relevant option from the 'to support' box to sponsor their record-breaker.

Pui's House is Almost Finished - March 2009

We are pleased to tell you that Pui's house is almost finished! As you can see from the photo, the frame of the house is completed, and shutters etc in place. The ceiling needs to be completed inside the house, and electricity still needs to be connected, but in the meanwhile Pui and her family have moved in!

The house has two toilets, 2 bedrooms, a living room and a kitchen, and every room is specially designed to accomodate Pui's disabilities. She has a special toilet with handle bars, and other bars are fixed around the home to allow her to move independently round her house for the first time ever. The house was built near the road so that Pui can access public transport using her wheelchair.

Pui is one of twins, and due to problems in childbirth, she has severe cerebral palsey. Her and her family previously lived in a small shack built of wood which had no facilities for her disabilities. When CCD began reaching out to Pui and her family through their community work CBR, her needs became more and more obvious to the staff, and so CCD decided to build this house.

The £4000 needed to build Pui's house was raised by CCD and For Life supporters, driven forward by Mike and Bridget Blackburn, who are working with CCD for three years. Pui's family are delighted with their new home, and very grateful to all For Life and CCD supporters for making it happen. They extend their grateful heart-felt thanks!

See how much of a difference your money can make in Thailand! It cost only £4000 to build this specialist home for one of our poorest most disadvantaged children. Please donate so that we can help more children like Pui. For Life, 1 kennington Road, London SE1 7QP, lydia@4lifethailand.org.
