DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT FOR CCD

During the month of October 2010 we are encouraging all our supporters to Do Something Different for CCD. Here are some ideas:

  • Food Glorious food - if you enjoy food you could cook something special and invite some people round to your house for a small donation.
  • Give it up - you could give up smoking, alcohol, chocolate or any other expensive habits for the month of October and then donate the money that you save to CCD.
  • Party on dude - you could hold a party to raise money for CCD. Or why not hold a quiz night, or a karoake night, or a battle of the bands competition?
  • Get active, Get money - could you take part in a sponsored event, or hold a football competition? For more information about sponsorship please contact us. You can set up a Just Giving page and choose For Life (reigstered charity number 1104291) from the provided options.
  • 'Sale close to the wind' - why not have a clear out and hold a garage sale? You can donate what you raise to CCD.

SPONSOR THE WORLD'S BIGGEST THAI DANCE
As part of the 'Do Something different for CCD' month in October, CCD are going to try to break the Guiness Book of World Records by holding the World's Biggest Thai dance. CCD is planning to have at least 300 staff, children and volunteers take part in the dance and show that disabled people can be record breakers too.
Could you sponsor CCD in their endeavour? Please donate now and choose the correct option from the 'in support of' drop down menu.

The idea of our Alternative Wish List is that instead of big corporations benefitting from your Christmas present buying, the children in Thailand can benefit. Here is how it works:

1. You have a look at the list below, and decide on a present for your friend, relative or colleague.

2. Open the Online Order Form below, and fill in the form electronically. Save the form with your name as the file name, and email it to info@4lifethailand.org.

3. Click on the this link to Donate the total of the gifts you have purchased. Choose 'Gift List 2009' from the 'I would like my donation to support...' drop-down box.

4. Once we have received your email and the donation has come through, we will send you a voucher and a card for the person you have bought the present for.

'Learn to Write' Kit, £3
Papers, pencils, rulers, pens and rubbers - all the necessary things for handwriting practice. Every child would love to be able to write, and these resources will provide a means of learning for the younger children.
Baby-Care-Kit, £5
Children can be abandoned as young as one month old, and when these children arrive at Rainbow House they need looking after. For £5 you can buy the essentials that a baby needs like nappies, milk, baby food and soap.

Young Adventurer's Discovery Kit, £5
Every child has an inquisitive mind, and this kit contains things like magnifying glasses, small microscopes, rubber gloves and books with information about insects and anything else that you can pull up from the ground - worms, shells and plants.

Daytrip for a group of Children, £10
Many of the children in the Government homes have never been outside of those walls, and so taking them somewhere new is incredibly exciting, and very important. This year on our beach outing, one girl who had never seen the sea before asked in a puzzled manner whether someone had “left the tap on and caused a flood?”! For as little as £10 you can pay for a of group children to go to the beach, go to a national park or visit a shopping centre.
Books and School Uniform, £10
You can give a child at Rainbow House the essentials they need for going to school like uniform, shoes, bags and text books.
Toys for Cognitive Development, £10
Toys to develop the minds of young children - stimulation and learning in a fun way including alphabets blocks, number games and abacusses.

Arts and Crafts Kit, £20
Paint, crayons, scissors, paper, stickers, glue, tissue paper, sequins, and lots of other fun things that children love for making and playing.

School Fees for a Month, £30
To send our children to school, we need your help to raise their fees. Depending on ability, we send as many children as possible to mainstream schools, but sometimes children require specialist schools or one-to-one tuition. Donate a child’s school fees for a month and give them the opportunity and privilege to learn in an environment suited to their needs.

Full Course of Physiotherapy, £50
For children with severe physical disabilities and deformities, physiotherapy is a life-line for freedom of movement and release from pain. We have two hydrotherapy pools to aid our physio sessions, and for only £50 you can fund a physiotherapist to give a full ten-week course of treatment sessions.

Outdoor Adventure Playground, £100
We would really like to set up an outdoor playground for our newest community project in central Thailand. Slides, swings, climbing frames and a mobile sand and water play tray are all items we are hoping to buy - you can be part of this for £100.
Christmas Cards, £2.50 for a pack of 5 cards
The children at CCD love designing cards, and this year's Christmas design is a classic nativity scene drawn using coloured pencils. The cards are left blank inside for your own message.
Card Design 2, £2.50 for a pack of 5 cards
The children at CCD love designing cards, and this unique design can be used all year round. The cards are left blank for your own message.
Card Design 3, £2.50 for a pack of 5 cards

The Manorom Project Appeal

We have just launched our Manorom Project Appeal to open a daycare centre and vocational training centre in Manorom Province which is 195km North of Bangkok. CCD have been given use of the building by a charity called OMF who previously used it as a leprosy hospital. Thankfully, Leprosy is now scarce in Thailand so the hospital is no longer needed.
We have exciting plans for the hospital building. We are planning to make is into a daycare centre to help hundreds of unreached disabled children in Manorom Province. These children will be able to receive the love and attention that they need; they will have specialist care, physiotherapy, occupational assessments and home visits to improve their standard of life at home, and we will also provide support networks for their parents. We also want to make one floor into a vocational training centre to equip disabled young people with transferable skills that they can use to get employment and gain independence.

The great news is that we already have the land and the building, we just need to raise £45,000 to refurbish and renovate the facilities, as well as carrying out research to identify the needs in the local area. This money also includes paying staff for 18 months to get the project off the ground.

Please give generously to this project - we will be improving the lives of hundreds of unreached children in the Northern State of Manorom.

Chilli for Charity

Our new fundraising initiative called Chilli for Charity is coming at the end of January 08.

The idea is that you cook a delicious Thai meal for your friends and family, and then ask them to donate the money that they would have spent eating out at a Thai Restaurant. Thai food is renowned for being delicious, but also for being incredibly spicey - we are daring you to take on as much chilli as you can handle, in the name of charity!

We will send you a Chilli for Charity fundraising pack which includes a recipe booklet and ideas for making the perfect evening, as well as a quiz on Thailand which you can play with your guests!

To order your pack (which will arrive at the end of January / beginning of Feb), please email us now!

Would you consider doing some fundraising in aid of For Life?  If so, here are some ideas:  You could do a sponsored event, hold a cake sale, put on a dinner evening, hold a concert in aid of For Life, and many other things!  You can request leaflets, posters, and a copy of our promotional video and 'Thank You' video to help you.
